Janet Baird, R.Y.T., Director of Yoga
Janet Baird, R.Y.T. Janet started taking yoga classes while training for her first marathon. She was able to train injury free as well as increase her lung capacity and develop the mental awareness needed for long distance running. The combination of running and yoga has kept Janet mentally and physically centered for years.

In 2003, she completed the teacher training program at Free Spirit Studio in Sacramento. Her training is in Hatha yoga with an emphasis in Forrest-Style Yoga. She is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. Prior to becoming a yoga instructor, Janet taught high school English for 9 years. Her love of teaching and learning is apparent in the energy in each of her classes. Through the years, Janet has taught a wide variety of classes including Beginning, Prenatal, Mommy Time, Yoga Plus and Private Yoga Instruction.
By working with these specialized populations, Janet has gained the ability to truly see each student as an individual with needs different from those around them. She empowers students to embrace their individuality and work with their bodies instead of against them. Personally, Janet has seen her yoga practice evolve as she moves through different stages of her life. She has two sons, ages 3 and 1, and she taught yoga throughout both her pregnancies. Janet attributes her amazing pre and post pregnancy experiences to yoga. Janet¹s classes are appropriate for all levels of students. While her classes are challenging, she provides modifications for all levels. She is excited to be back teaching at Sattva and is looking forward to helping Sattva continue to grow in her new role as Director of Yoga. E-mail Janet: janetb@sattvayogaandpilates.com

Kirk Hartwig, R.Y.T.
Kirk Hartwig began practicing yoga regularly in 1996 simply to enhance other physical activities - running, hiking, and weight lifting.

He soon discovered yoga offered far more benefits than just stretching tight muscles!! To deepen his practice, he enrolled in the 500-hour teacher training program at the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco. Kirk completed the two year course in 2003.
With high-tech professional backgrounds Kirk is attracted to the Iyengar style with its attention to detail and precision of alignment. Kirk's classes are designed for students of all skill levels as they balance a compassionate and gentle style with traditional Iyengar instructions and discipline.
Carrie Pollo, R.Y.T.Carrie is a life long athlete. She started competing AAU swimming at a young age, and competed through high school. She then went into the Army and stayed in shape with the rigorous PT program. After that she joined a health club and was hooked on aerobics for awhile. 1997 was the year Carrie started to compete in cycling (road). She loved that and continued until 2003, when she found out she was pregnant. Carrie also found yoga in 2003, and fell in love with it. It was a great balance with cycling, and made her feel wonderful. She continued doing yoga, and cycling, but not racing, until her son, Zachery was born in August 2004. Since Zachery’s birth, Carrie has continued with yoga and cycling. The yoga really helps Carrie keep balanced and centered with her very busy life. Her passion for yoga keeps growing and growing. Carrie received her yoga teacher training through Lori Moore, who teaches a vinyasa flow style of hatha yoga.

Desperate for relief that didn't come in the form of a pill, Nicole was initially motivated to try pilates to remedy an injury. Through her dedicated practice she found relief that also sparked a passion for pilates and she was inspired to enroll in Sattva's 450-Hour Comprehensive Teacher Training Program. Nicole is currently working as an Apprentice and will soon be completing her certification. She is thrilled to be able to share this amazing form of exercise with others because "anyone can do it.... And everyone can benefit from it." She is excited that she set a "good" example of physical fitness for her son, so he can cultivate healthy habits while he is young. With a sense of humor and creative style, Nicole guides her students towards their potential, but not without forgetting to laugh. Nicole lives in Rocklin with her husband Tom and son TJ.
